    Thank you so much for your inspiring little video. When I was a small child I was reluctantly taken to the movie The Benny Goodman Story. It proved to be a life changer. I think that you are holding the Selmer Recital? It is such a wonderful instrument. God bless you. Bill. Uk 🎶🇺🇸

    Thank you for this wonderful video and something of your philosophy of music. The Selmer Muse seems a great clarinet which I have not tried. I like the flexibility of the Recital but there are other great clarinets too. God bless you. 🎶Bill. Uk

    I collect saxophones. Several years ago I purchased what I thought was a Modele 26. By the serial number it was manufactured in 1928, but it had no model number. Now, after seeing your interesting video, I know it to be a Large Bore. My question is, my horn has the same jeweled touch pieces as the one at the beginning of the video. Do you know what the story is on this? I thought possible this was added later by a repairer to "jazz up" the instrument, although it looks like it came out of the factory like that. Was this some sort of custom job the factory offered?

  • @billducker7404
    @billducker7404 24 дні тому

    PS you are correct that the Recital is a unique clarinet and feels strange initially because of it’s weight and thickness. It is however a very flexible and has a “dark” tone. It is similar in feel to the large bore English clarinets. The Ben Haim is a terrific piece as well. Thank you once again for your beautiful playing. By. Uk

    So what does Doug's statement really mean? That Selmer does not produce homogenous instrument across registers?. Or that it does? Is he insulting, or praising Selmer's efforts? Unhomogenous instrument also means technically unpredictable instrument. Does he realise what is he implying, or even talking about?

    Very interesting approach to his choice of saxophone and it's homogenous nature.

    • @zvonimirtosic6171
      @zvonimirtosic6171 28 днів тому

      So what did you conclude that he was talking about? My conclusion is that he may be an okay saxophone player, but engages in terminology he does not quite understand. Unfortunately, neither do Selmer's music directors understand, who filmed this video and did not bother about nonsensical statements in it.

    Quite remarkable. How fortunate that the stars aligned, and one individual had the curiosity and initiative to pursue such a project, the knowledge and skills to make it feasible, and the freedom to spend the necessary amount of time devoted to it. Also, I have had the pleasure of meeting M. Florent Milhaud several times; he is very personable, generous, and a great ambassador for the company. Selmer is lucky to have him.

    I have an American setup alto 140xxx that has the vertical mark VI stamp just near the palm keys, also the serial number is hand written on the back of the neck octave ( you can only see this once taken off ) I guess this was to match the horn in the box when shipped from Paris.

    Thank you for your video Sir. Selmer make great clarinets and mouthpieces. I have not played your particular model but I know that it will be great, according to your taste. I have been playing the Recital clarinet which is very flexible and plays a bit like the old British clarinets. I hope that more players will see your video and give your instruments a try Selmer make great clarinets as well as saxophones. Their new range of mouthpieces are also excellent too. I have found that they work great with synthetic reeds as well as natural cane. It’s time to discover Selmer clarinets. God bless you. Bill. Uk 🎶
